Kasui Okanemasa
born in Noto, Ishikawa, Japan, began her career in Kutani porcelain painting in 1975 and graduated from the Ishikawa Prefectural Kutani Technical Training Institute (decoration department) in 1985; she has received multiple awards including the Newcomer Prize at the Sozobijutsuten in 1992 and the Member Prize in 2004, and in 2007 was certified as a traditional craft artisan while also teaching painting at the Kanazawa Kutani Club; she was selected for the Traditional Kutani Crafts Exhibition in 2008 and has since exhibited widely in Japan, including solo exhibitions at Gallery Noa in 2013 and group exhibitions at department stores, earning honors such as the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Prize in 2014 and the Okiraji Prize in 2018, and she remains an active member of the Sozobijutsukai and a certified traditional craft artisan.
